Puccini’s timeless masterpiece has moved audiences for more than a century with its irresistible music and tale of love and lost. His most celebrated opera combines soaring music and heartbreaking drama, as the fragile seamstress Mimi asks the poet Rodolfo to light her candle. When a candle flickers, love sparks and they fall head over heels with each other. At the same time, Marcello is falling back into the arms of the flirtatious Musetta.
It soon becomes clear that Mimi’s health is failing, and she and Rodolfo must decide if their relationship can survive the inevitable tragedy ahead. La Bohème is a sweeping love story which balances the heights of romance with the hard truth that happiness comes at a cost.
Join us before the concert at 7pm for a discussion with the artists and music director Christopher Zimmerman.
