After completing an appointment as the Assistant Conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in 2007, Laura Jackson has performed frequently with orchestras across the United States and beyond. Ms. Jackson's 2008-09 season begins with a concert in Manila, Philippines followed by concerts in Phoenix, North Carolina, Boca Raton, South Carolina, and Modesto. In addition, she will perform with the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra and Reno Philharmonic as a finalist for the position of Music Director. 2007-08 included performances with the symphonies of Detroit, Alabama, Sacramento, Boca Raton, Berkeley, Wyoming, Billings, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra and New World Symphony. Her 2007–08 season closed with a return to the Atlanta Symphony for a Classical Subscription concert and a recording session with the Bournemouth Symphony in England. During her three-year tenure in Atlanta, Ms. Jackson conducted the Young People's Concerts, Symphony 360º Series, Summer Classical Concerts, as well as ASO Classical Subscription Series concerts. Meanwhile, Ms. Jackson remained active as a guest conductor and her engagements included concerts with the symphonies of Winnipeg, Toronto, Toledo, San Antonio, and Baltimore. In 2005 she performed with the Colorado Symphony as winner of the Taki Concordia Fellowship. Prior to her appointment in Atlanta, Ms. Jackson studied conducting at the University of Michigan and attended the Tanglewood Music Center in 2003 as the Seiji Ozawa Conducting Fellow where she conducted numerous concerts including both traditional and contemporary repertoire.
